Week 9: The Modern & Conservative 1920s

Image
Trends of the 20s The thing I have been learning lately is to take the good out of all bad situations, because dwelling on the past does not help anything. Honestly I feel the 1920's was a progress to the "American Dream". I feel it was the start of the modern days. The 1920s brought in a new cultural vibe, that somewhat reflects how things are today. During this era the "Middle Class" was created. This era allowed the Middle Class to buy things outside of needs. I feel it is VERY smart to advertise to the woman (I say that to this day). Woman love to buy clothes, to look good, makeup, ect. and these were the products that became very popular. I wouldn't necessarily say woman were liberated during this time, because you have to look at ALL woman. Black woman still had to go through backlash. A white woman could be wearing the same thing as a black woman and be praised for her "sexy" look, but that black woman would be called hyper-sex...

Week 7 Reflection: Woman's Suffrage Movement

Image
Quote from Susan B. Anthony; a leader in the Woman Suffrage Movement. I hate this time point in history, it is very disgusting to read. Being a woman this blog really touches a different emotion. On the other hand this week's topic shows a different type of strength from woman, that I love and admire.  The woman suffrage movement began in 1848, when a women’s rights convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York. Woman were looking for equality to vote,  for divorce, access to higher education, the professions, and other occupations, as well as birth control and abortion. It took activists and reformers nearly 100 years to win the right to vote.  A lot of the things we take for granted and a lot of the things still need improvement. There were also laws that allowed women to be legally beaten by their husbands and were required to submit to their husbands' sexual demands. That basically sounds like legalized rape and is probably why rape cases were high...

https://sites.google.com/view/jmlux/home The main thing I want to offer my readers from my site is non biased perception! I want my readers to be able to understand what influenced patterns, issues, cultures, separation, and unity in the Unites States . I also want my readers to be able to draw connections between trends that took place back then, compared to how they are now.

Week 6 Reflection: US Imperialism & World War I

Image
This pretty much looks like Imperialism. I see 2 different perceptions. One is the US getting tied up in business that had nothing to do with them,  also can be looked at the US wanting to grow! Imperialism is the a policy aimed at extending the political, economic, and cultural control of the United States government over areas beyond its boundaries. Imperialism would cause the creation of colonies.. But it that good or bad... hmm. The Good: One of the major benefits I feel the government look at above all, was imperialism's economic benefits. Imperialism would be good for global modernization, some of the US creations were brought to other countries through imperialism. Another benefit is imperialism created a global defense support. There were 650 military bases in 38 countries, so US Imperialism was able to protect people around the world during conflict. Imperialism helped colonized countries progress. Globalization helped the advancement of infrastructure and mach...
