The main thing I want to offer my readers from my site is non biased perception! I want my readers to be able to understand what influenced patterns, issues, cultures, separation, and unity in the Unites States . I also want my readers to be able to draw connections between trends that took place back then, compared to how they are now.

    Hi Johnese,
    Please refresh my memory--you decided to go with the essay, and not the fashion exhibit?
    If that is correct, please update the home page to your website. The Reconstruction Revision is good, I want you to illustrate it more--add an image with the reconstruction amendments. Add images of black troops who fought for the union, and add one of the black codes. I think you should also explain more what was in the black codes. For the DuBois quote--he is talking about obstacles that keep people from the american dream--enslavement, black codes, and Jim Crow were tremendous obstacles--people worked hard, had hope, succeeded, then had it all taken away.. Freedom--black codes; Political and Economic success--Jim Crow and disenfranchisement. Maybe your second story should be on the Rise of the New South. Do some revising to your first story, and draft the revision of the second one this week; Week 12!

    Hi Johnese,
    Your essay is looking great. For the final product—I think you need to change the title of the Rise of the New South because here you are actually talking about the rise of industrial capitalism. The Rise of the New South is about the Redeemers, Jim Crow Laws, the rape myth, and lynching.
    Also, add an introduction to your home page that brings all this together—what is all this evidence saying to you about the “American Dream”?

Sit-in's became a popular tactic for civil rights movements. Ever heard the saying "I'm tired of being tired", that's exactly what's going on in this week's blog. Week 12: 1950s America

In the 1950s the use of automobiles became highly influenced, especially with over 400,000 miles of highway built. After WW2, there was an amazing growth in the economy. As we know with change comes more change. As the economy grew separation was still very visible. Residential construction and spending on consumer goods became very popular. During this era become a homeowner was a dream. Home ownership wasn't as easy for blacks as it was for whites. The 1950s brought the rise of Suburbans, neighborhoods dedicated to whites. While suburbans were developing urban cities were changing. 7 million whites left the city to move into suburbs, while 3 million blacks moved to the cities. The neighborhoods for blacks were often called ghetto, and thought to be high crime areas, poverty, and needed welfare. Week 7 Reflection: Woman's Suffrage Movement

Quote from Susan B. Anthony; a leader in the Woman Suffrage Movement. I hate this time point in history, it is very disgusting to read. Being a woman this blog really touches a different emotion. On the other hand this week's topic shows a different type of strength from woman, that I love and admire.  The woman suffrage movement began in 1848, when a women’s rights convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York. Woman were looking for equality to vote,  for divorce, access to higher education, the professions, and other occupations, as well as birth control and abortion. It took activists and reformers nearly 100 years to win the right to vote.  A lot of the things we take for granted and a lot of the things still need improvement. There were also laws that allowed women to be legally beaten by their husbands and were required to submit to their husbands' sexual demands.
