Introduction to an Entrepreneur

My name is Johnese Lee, many people know me from my social media sites. ( Instagram and Facebook, I don't use Twitter any more.) I really enjoy social media it has opened so many doors for me and created numerous opportunities for me. I currently am a Junior at JCSU and my major is Business Finance. When I graduate I want to work in the bank, but not for too long. I can't imagine myself working for someone forever, I ALWAYS wanted to be MY OWN BOSS. I have had a passion for doing hair for a very long time, in fact my sophomore year I was contemplating coming back to school because I wanted to go to Cosmetology school; as you can tell by this blog I stayed in tradition school. (I'm on an academic scholarship and did not want to give up my opportunity, plus I have got so far along.) Recently I stopped doing natural hair and traditional sew-in because my heart really was not into it, so I like to call myself a Wigologist. Wigologist- a person who specializes in the creation or installation of wigs. Literally, all I do is wigs now! I LOVE it! Doing wigs have really brought out my creative side, it's so fun! The industry has grown tremendously, I can't wait to see how far I will go! I have built my very own brand named JM Lux. (JM- Johnese Marie, the name people know me as, Lux- short for luxury, every girl's wish! I even went downtown to register my business name, so NO ONE can use it!) Procrastination is really a killer of dreams. My goal for 2019 was to overcome ANY fear by faith! I'm exited to be dropping my very own wig collection mid February 2019 and opening my own shop! I have so much in store for my brand, photo shoots, new products, events, guest speakers. I love the fact that i'm in school learning about business, starting a business. It's a learning experience! I have so many questions, school has been a powerful resource for me!

I enjoyed reading your introduction, It was cool to see some on is school and still choosing to hustle and succeed and cultivate and accomplish some goals prior to graduation. I enjoyed reading your introduction, It had me thinking hard on how your name is pronounced because I have a pet peeve with mispronounced names. As I think my name is simple it is always mispronounced. My college class mate was a poli- sci major and we had many good conversations.     My name is Kara and your introduction was inspiring, wooow Biology and Chemistry, my freshman year in college I started off as a Bio. major and quickly changed my major at the end of my 1st semester, did not realize how much math I need for bio smh.     Hello Johnese,
    I agree with the whole BYOB (be your own boss), because I plan on having my own personal clinics for those that can not afford treatment for there diabetes and thyroids. I plan that I will have various clinics throughout NC, VA, and GA. This hair girl is slayed and laid. *Applaud*. I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.

    Hi Johnese, my name is Jazmin Kelley. I really found interest in your blog especially when you said "be your own boss." understand you for not wanting to work under someone because although I'm majoring in psychology, I don't want to work under someone myself. I also love how you said overcoming any fear by faith because that is exactly one of my resolutions for 2019. I wish I knew how to do hair, it is a good business. Looking at your pictures you seem really talented and I know your going to make it far within the cosmetic industry.

Week 12: 1950s America

In the 1950s the use of automobiles became highly influenced, especially with over 400,000 miles of highway built. After WW2, there was an amazing growth in the economy. As we know with change comes more change. As the economy grew separation was still very visible. Residential construction and spending on consumer goods became very popular. During this era become a homeowner was a dream. Home ownership wasn't as easy for blacks as it was for whites. The 1950s brought the rise of Suburbans, neighborhoods dedicated to whites. While suburbans were developing urban cities were changing. 7 million whites left the city to move into suburbs, while 3 million blacks moved to the cities. The neighborhoods for blacks were often called ghetto, and thought to be high crime areas, poverty, and needed welfare. Week 7 Reflection: Woman's Suffrage Movement

Quote from Susan B. Anthony; a leader in the Woman Suffrage Movement. I hate this time point in history, it is very disgusting to read. Being a woman this blog really touches a different emotion. On the other hand this week's topic shows a different type of strength from woman, that I love and admire.  The woman suffrage movement began in 1848, when a women’s rights convention was held in Seneca Falls, New York. Woman were looking for equality to vote,  for divorce, access to higher education, the professions, and other occupations, as well as birth control and abortion. It took activists and reformers nearly 100 years to win the right to vote.  A lot of the things we take for granted and a lot of the things still need improvement.
